This adapter is installed directly in the fork of a furler of the same capacity (KTS1.5 for furler KF1.5). The tack of the sail is attached to the swivel of the KTS so only the upper part of the sail rolls up during the first furling turns. The sail is thus suffocated from the top and gradually rolls up in its entirety around the anti torsion rope which makes the connection between the furling drum and the swivel. A simple and efficient system that makes it very easy to operate a spinnaker from the cockpit. The KTS is clearly an alternative to the spinnaker sock.

  • Lightweight and compact
  • Tack swivel design designed to limit vibrations when unrolling the sail
  • Perfect adaptation to our furlers
  • Supplied with a Dyneema® strop to attach the armor point of the sail sail
  • The KTS can remain installed on the spinnaker permanently for a faster installation
  • On request, we easily modify the KTS for an adaptation on competing furlers (manual, electric or hydraulic)

– The KTS is delivered without anti torsion rope. If you wish to carry out the installation yourself, choose the KTS SPI PACK (KTS + anti torsion + clamps + thimbles)
– The working load of the swivel (the part that turns) is always much less than the total load of the KTS. Thus a KTS6.0 easily withstands 6T of tension but the Safe Working Load (SWL) of the swivel is only 1.5T. The tack of the sail is not subjected to the same tensions as the anti torsion. So this is not a problem but it is an element to take into account if you plan to store a sail that is not an asymmetric spinnaker.
– Contrary to popular belief, the KTS is not an accessory only reserved for cruisers. Storing your spinnaker from the cockpit is a formidable weapon in regatta for small crews.
– Many Super Yachts also store their asymmetric spinnaker or gennaker to easily operate hundreds of m² of sail
– Our KTS can be used on competing furlers as long as you have checked the pin diameter, the fork width as well as its depth.
– As soon as you ask yourself the question of a spinnaker sock, the KTS becomes a relevant option.
– The KTS makes it possible to operate from the cockpit without having to operate on the foredeck
– Once stored and unlike a sock, it is possible to leave the sail in position for a few minutes to a few hours if necessary.
– The KTS definitively resolves the problem of having the sock at the head of the mast which can weigh tens of kilos when it is wet.
– The furling of the sail from the top allows to roll the sail without forcing.
– Many sailmakers are starting to use these adapters for furling other sails.
– For the system to be effective, it is very important to use a quality anti torsion. Beyond 5T (KF4.5), we strongly recommend choosing an anti torsion cable (Future Fibers, Navtec, Soft Rig, Armare, etc, …). This is an essential point for proper operation. Quality anti torsion can be expensive. This is also the main obstacle to the acquisition of a KTS.
– Up to 15-20 meters of luff, you can use an anti torsion rope but choose the largest diameter that the thimble can accept. Some sailboats advise to choose a furler model larger than the load in order to be able to use anti torsions of larger diameter.
– Like a spinnaker sock, you will need a little time to find the right movements and the right settings that will allow you to achieve a perfect winding without a pocket in the upper part.
– It is possible to store an old asymmetric spinnaker but those which were originally designed for a KTS usually have a softer headboard. They are also often a little less shouldered.
– It is not possible today to store a symmetrical spinnaker with a KTS
– Regularly rinse your KTS with fresh water. It usually remains attached to the sail which itself is enclosed in a bag.
